Long-term club partners Anthony Higgins Transport have raised £1,150 for Castleford Tigers’ official charity partner The Prince of Wales Hospice!

By donating their executive box at The Jungle for the Betfred Super League fixtures against Wakefield Trinity and Catalans Dragons the local transportation firm have once again helped raise vital funds for the local care hospice.

Based in Pontefract, The Prince of Wales Hospice provides incredible care for people with life-limiting illnesses in our local district.

All care provided is completely free and based solely on need, but this does mean that around £11,000 per day is required to continue providing their care, totalling over £4 million each year. For over 15 years, the Fords have held a strong relationship with the local charity, raising over £13,000 in the last 24 months alone.

Speaking about Anthony Higgins Transport’s brilliant backing of the local charity as well of the Tigers, star prop forward Liam Watts said: “It takes quite a lot of money to run a hospice, so every bit of money that gets raised does go a long way. Anthony Higgins Transport are my sponsor and it is nice to be involved with them and see some of the good stuff they do for the club and the hospice.”

Adrian Greenwood, Fundraising Manager at The Prince of Wales Hospice added: “Anthony Higgins Transport’s support has been amazing donating their box for the Wakefield and Catalans games. Through the auction and the raffle we’ve been able to raise £1,150 which is a fantastic amount and means a lot for us.”

Last year Anthony Higgins Transport helped the Hospice raise £7,000 by donating their executive box as a prize for their Golf Day, and the local firm has gone even further by donating their box twice this season!

We at the Tigers thank them for their ongoing support of The Prince of Wales Hospice and the club itself.

In September, the Tigers' Commercial Department will be taking on The Great North Run to raise funds for our official charity club partner.
