Castleford Tigers Commercial Team will be taking on The Great North Run in September in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice!

The Great North Run is the largest half-marathon in the world, starting in central Newcastle, crossing the River Tyne and going into Gateshead, the run then goes past South Tyneside with the finish line located by the sea in South Shields.

Craig Jeffels and Michael Kilby-Scott of the Tigers’ Commercial Team will be tackling the 13.1-mile challenge in the North East to raise funds for the club’s official charity partner The Prince of Wales Hospice.

Based in Pontefract, the Hospice provides outstanding care for people with life-limiting illnesses in our local area. All care is provided completely free of charge and based on need - however, this does mean that The Prince of Wales Hospice requires around £11,000 per day to continue providing their care, totalling over £4million each year.

For over 15 years, the Fords have held a strong relationship with the local charity, raising over £13,000 in the last 24 months alone.

Speaking about taking on The Great North Run in aid of The Prince of Wales Hospice, Head of Commercial Partnerships at the Tigers Craig Jeffels said: “As the club’s charity partner we have heavily supported the Hospice for a number of years and this year myself and Michael decided that as employees of Castleford Tigers, we should add to those fundraising efforts on a personal level.

“The cost of running the hospice for a single day is astronomical, and if we can make a difference by giving up two hours of our time to run the Great North Run in September then that is what we shall do.

“This will be my second attempt at the Great North Run after running for the Hospice in 2019 and I am excited to be getting involved again. Michael has been training hard at half marathon distances, whilst I will need to up my game if I am to have any chance of beating him over the line!

“If you can donate to this fantastic cause and assist us in raising vital funds the Hospice needs more than ever, please do!”
