- Connecting to our community

- Full week of activity and engagement

- Meet the first team players

Half term in Castleford will see a full week of activity, the highly regarded Tigers Talent Pathway has half-term opportunities for all boys and girls U12 to U16.  And our multisport camps, supported by Dalziel and Yorkshire Housing provide an offer for the younger players, age 4-11, and gives them a chance to meet with the first team squad as the sessions take place at The Jungle.

At the TTP sessions, both boys and girls will have support from Academy coaching staff and the opportunity to express themselves, raise aspiration and compete through small-sided games to develop their skills in a supportive environment.  May half term will see all players given the opportunity, girls on Tuesday and Boys Thursday and Friday, to experience high quality coaching from the Castleford Tigers Academy Staff.  With a series of skill development opportunities, small-sided conditioned games and movement development programme designed to help them progress and be their personal best.

Speaking of the programme, Matty Faulkner, Head of Youth Development stated, “This is a perfect opportunity for players and coaches to receive a connected approach to player development, give an insight into the methods we use to support from TTP through to first team and bring to life the pathways, especially for local players.”

Education & RL Development Manager, Mat Lancaster added, “This year’s TTP is exciting as we’re fully integrating the girls into the programme and in a similar way to the boys offer, it allows exposure to different coaches, different challenges and provides a support network for players and coaches alike.  We’re looking forward to seeing as many players and coaches as we can take up this opportunity and feel this is another step to support the development of rugby league in Castleford.”

Michaela Anderson from Castleford Tigers Foundation commented, “Helping children to be healthy and active is a key part of our delivery, we’ll be having some special visits from the players and JT so make the days even more memorable, the way the club and foundation are consistently supporting each other is fantastic and it really makes a difference to the communities we’re proud to serve.”

The Multisport Camps supported by Dalziel and Yorkshire Housing provide an opportunity for children to raise their aspirations and meet with the players as part of fun filled days.

Paul Nelson and Graham Smith, Site Directors of Dalziel Castleford, wanted to provide a legacy for their business and through funding this project they are enabling activities for youngsters in the school holidays to keep them active and not sat at home in front of a screen.  Using Castleford Tigers as a vehicle to run these camps, allows players from the club to get involved and inspire the children in the community and create something special through Castleford Tigers Foundation.

Isaac Keighley from Yorkshire Housing echoed the sentiment, “We’re pleased to work with Castleford Tigers Foundation and make sure support is in place for those that need it most to access the same provisions as their friends, it’s refreshing to see the club committed to tackling inequalities in the same way we are”
