The Castleford Tigers Community Foundation is proud to launch its revised school’s delivery programme for 2025.  Building on the existing programme that provides PE support through Dance, Gymnastics, Multisports and Rugby League to 10 primary schools in the district.  We’re looking to connect with more schools and provide better support through PE, breakfast clubs, dinner time activity sessions, after school’s clubs and professional player assemblies.

The provision will also extend to literacy and numeracy projects, helping all pupils to see the importance of these key outcomes using the profile of professional players and qualified coaches to raise their aspirations and tackle inequalities.

Michaela Anderson, Dance Manager explained, “We’ve been working in schools consistently and have a drive to grow the number of children that can access the benefits of our delivery.  Our PE offers are inclusive and engaging and now with the added opportunity to utilise the players to support our delivery which will help us build a better provision.  It is importance for us as a community to utilise the players and have the full backing from Danny McGuire and his team in doing this.”

The assembly programme will provide a player and coach to attend an assembly of the school’s choice with a 5-minute talk giving clarity on working hard, building resilience and being part of a team, this will then open to questions and answers from the pupils giving them the chance to learn about some core skills for school, sport and life.

The PE and sporting provisions are built around breakfast clubs, curriculum delivery and after school clubs and written against the needs of curricular delivery at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.  All programmes are tailored to the schools need and can be hourly, daily and longer-term blocks of delivery with a key output of helping young people to consistently lead more active lifestyles.  With the use of players to solidify our connections we hope this serves to help tackle inequalities faced in the town.

Laura Carlin, Dance Coach, added, “I’m really excited for 2025 and the opportunity to work closely with the first team squad and see how significant their impact can be.  The assembly programme is a good opportunity for players to learn about the challenges faced in the town and for the children to ask questions and build relationships with the club.  Our PE provision has activity at the core and helping the children to learn about and lead active lifestyles.  We have pathways to rugby clubs and dance for interested children and are looking forward to seeing growth in this area”

The Community Foundation welcomes interest from schools for this and next academic year, schools and teachers are invited to contact; Michaela Anderson (michaela@castigers.com) or Laura Carlin (lauracarlin@castigers.com) to arrange to meet and discuss packages.
