Castleford Tigers are saddened to learn the passing of Tigers Hall of Fame inductee Keith Hepworth.

Castleford Tigers would like to offer their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Keith Hepworth at this difficult time.

Keith made 329 appearances for Castleford scoring 66 tries including one at Wembley in 1969 as Castleford beat Salford 11-6.

The defeat of Salford was followed up in 1970 with another Challenge Cup win, this time over Wigan and Castleford became only the second club at the time to win the cup in successive seasons. Keith of course played a full part, his all round rugby league skill allowed the Tigers to go back to back.

Keith's quality was rewarded with call ups into the Great Britain side where he faced France, Australia and New Zealand as well as being selected for the 1970 World Cup.

Hepworth will go down in history for being a key part in the GB Lions side that brought the Ashes back home in 1970, the last British side to beat Australia in a test series.

'Heppy' also made several appearances for Yorkshire throughout the 60s and early 70s.

He continued his career after the Tigers by having stints at Leeds and Hull FC where he was a several time Yorkshire and Floodlit Trophy winner before retiring in 1979.

Keith Hepworth's rugby league journey wasn't over however as the Tigers legend went into coaching, having a 2 year coaching career at Bramley between 1980-1982.

A Castleford Hall of Fame inductee who was a huge part of Castleford & Great Britain's success, Keith Hepworth will go down a hero within rugby league and supporters of the game will be thankful for Keith's contributions.
