The highly regarded Tigers Talent Pathway returns for 2024/25, and launches in earnest at the October half-term of 2024.  This allows players, both boys and girls starting Year 7 at high school to get their first experience of the programme.

The October half term will see all players given the opportunity, girls on Monday and Boys Thursday and Friday, to experience high quality coaches form the Castleford Tigers academy staff.  With a series of skill development opportunities, small sided conditioned games and movement development programmes designed to help them progress and be their personal best.  Throughout the year testing points will help the players to benchmark themselves and track progress over the 5 years of the programme.

In addition to the player development days, the programme with also incorporate a series of coach education from the performance staff including Head of Youth, Rob Nickolay, Assistant Coaches, Danny McGuire and Scott Murrell alongside Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach, Nathan Freer.  The coach education is aligned to RFL objectives and will support the upskilling of coaches to create holistic player development principles for all participants.

Speaking of the programme, Rob Nickolay stated, “This is a perfect opportunity for players and coaches to receive a connected approach to player development, give an insight into the methods we use to support from TTP through to first team and bring to life the pathways, especially for local players.  Our invite to coaches and providing access to our performance staff is to showcase to coaches some high performance practitioners and allow presentations, workshops and feedback sessions to support our community”

Education and Development Manager, Mat Lancaster added, “This years TTP is exciting as we’re fully integrating the girls into the programme and in a similar way to the boys offer, it allows exposure to different coaches, different challenges and provides a support network for players and coaches alike.  We’re looking forward to seeing as many players and coaches as we can take up this opportunity and feel this is another step to support the development of rugby league in Castleford.”

Booking is available online and all development days and coach education evenings are free of charge, the commitment to providing opportunities the Castleford community sits firmly in our strategy and regular updates on the programme will take place throughout the year:
