The Tigers were the hosts on Friday night as they faced a strong Warrington Wolves side inside a busy Mend-A-Hose Jungle under the lights.

Josh Thewliss kicked the game off with a high boot which was safely collected by Jason Qareqare and tipped to Liam Watts to get the clash flowing.

A half chance came after five minutes for the Fords when they kept the ball alive on the last, however this resulted in a kick out wide which was collected by Toby King.

Warrington went down the other end and had a chance for themselves as Josh Thewlis dived into the corner but a cover tackle from Innes Senior allowed Video Referee Liam Rush to give a no try.

Jenson Windley was inches away from scoring on his first team debut when he threw the dummy and broke through the line however a last-ditch effort stopped the youngster as he lost possession just short.

Luke Yates was sent to the bin after fifteen minutes when his tackle attempt was high on Liam Watts.

Warrington had a spell of possession on the Tigers line with twenty to play but a spirited effort and great defence from the Fords kept Warrington out once again.

Cai Taylor Wray got himself on the scoresheet for Warrington when he danced his way through the line and away from the oncoming Tigers defenders. The Wire youngster had an impressive early spell and topped it off with the opening try.

Josh Thewliss put Warrington eight points ahead going into the break when Cas were penalised for offside with a minute to play. Warrington chose to kick at goal and that was the final play in the half before the teams went into the break.

John Bateman opened the scoring after five minutes in the second half when a short pass allowed him to dive over without a Tigers play in sight.

Cas put themselves back in contention when Elie El Zakhem’s flick pass found Luke Hooley, the Tigers centre threw the dummy and found himself over the try line in front of the Wheldon Road end.

The Fords nearly struck again when a cut out pass from debutant Jenson Windley found Luke Hooley but a low offload from Hooley stopped the momentum from Qareqare out wide,

Warrington put themselves even further ahead after a penalty for a ball steal from Elie El Zakhem. Matty Nicholson was hit with a short pass and again the Fords defenders left a Warrington player untouched.

Will Tate was inches away from scoring but lost possession just metes away from the try line.

Matty Ashton got his first of the night with a trademark acrobatic finish in the corner despite the efforts from Jason Qareqare, Tom Grant sent the effort up to Video Referee Liam Rush who confirmed the grounding.

It was two within minutes when Josh Thewlis dived over, a tackle bust from Wray allowed the ball to go out wide to Thewliss.

A valiant effort from the Fords this evening but Warrington were far too strong in the end as they edged to the win against the Fords.
