Our Tigers were the visitors to The Salford Community Stadium in what would be a third meeting between the sides in which both sides had taken points at home.

Rowan Milnes got the game underway with the boot long and high towards the Salford supporters.

Salford started as the side on top with early possession, a set on the Cas line nearly got the Red Devils in front but a forward pass from Lafai to Cross was given as a forward pass, an early let off for the Tigers.

Cas took the lead early on when a Rowan Milnes early kick found Jason Qareqare who rushed in to score and put Cas ahead.

Salford again came close to this Cas line after twenty minutes played a Marc Sneyd kick caused a few issues but Jacob Miller was there to collect. Nene Macdonald managed to get himself over in the following set after receiving a short pass from Sneyd.

Video Referee Aaron Moore was put into use when a high ball went up by Sneyd, Nene Macdonald thought he’d got a double but a knock on in the process disallowed the Salford second.

Liam Horne was sent to the bin for a late tackle with seven minutes to play in the first half, this resulted in Ryan Brierley scoring after getting the ball off a scrum play to put Salford in front.

A tough first half period for Cas as they went into the break behind by six points, a lack of the ball in the Salford half was the issue but they were well in the game with forty to play.

Salford again set off out of the blocks much better than Castleford, some off the cuff rugby on the last put them close but Tex Hoy was there to kick it dead. The following set was similar as a Sneyd kick was batted dead by Jason Qareqare.

The defensive efforts from Cas were rewarded minutes later when a short side play found Jason Qareqare in the corner for his second of the day. Rowan Milnes put Cas level with a conversion from the touchline.

Elie El-Zakhem put Cas ahead with a solo run down the left edge fending off the Salford defenders in his path.

Ethan Ryan soon hit back for Salford when he picked off a Tex Hoy pass and rushed 80 metres to score in front of the Salford supporters.

Sylvester Namo was also sent to the bin after a high tackle on Ollie Partington left Namo on the sideline.

Salford took advantage of the man extra when Ollie Partington went under the posts.

The Red Devils then continued their try scoring when Ryan Brierley burst through the line, he was met with Chris Hankinson on the inside who dived under the posts to go fourteen points ahead.

Video Referee Aaron Moore was put into action once again when Luis Johnson burst through the middle, what a try it was as he went under the sticks.

Tex Hoy put Innes Senior down the line with minutes to play in what could’ve been a final chance for Cas to get back in the game, however referee Chris Kendall gave a forward pass in what was Cas’ final chance of the game.

A slow second half for Castleford away at Salford this week as well as some poor discipline. Another close game gone the other way unfortunately for Castleford as they fight to move up the table at the back end of the season.
