The Tigers lost out 28-0 at home to Huddersfield Giants.

The visitors broke the deadlock 7 minutes into the contest. After sustained pressure due to a six again, and forcing the Fords to drop out, Huddersfield made it count. A shift right to left through Russell and Connor allowed Halsall to receive the ball on the left edge and go in at the corner.

The following 8 minutes belonged to the Tigers. Pressure inside the Giants 20m saw Widdop and Westerman force a knock on and goal line drop out respectively. However it was to no avail as the Giants scooped the ball up from another Widdop kick and alleviated the pressure.

Against the run of play, the Giants had their second of the night. A six-again in their favour allowed them a fresh set just 30m from the Fords’ line. Russell found Cudjoe running a line and he met it at pace to race away and score.

New signing Liam Horne made his entrance 26 minutes into the contest to a brilliant reception from the fans.

After the Fords again had 10 minutes of good territory, it was the Giants who struck next. A mix up between Widdop and Miller allowed Lolohea to run away from their own line. After breaking and making 80m before being brought to ground the ball headed right and McQueen reached out to dot down.

The Fords went in at the break 14 points behind and scoreless.

The first 12 minutes after the interval, the sides went set for set with no clear-cut chances for either side.

That was until Huddersfield took their first opportunity on 55 minutes when Halsall secured his second score of the evening. The Giants shifted from right to left before Connor’s face ball found the winger in space out wide and he walked in and scored in the corner.

Neither side created anything threatening for 15 minutes after the Giants’ fourth score. Cas had field position but couldn’t make it count as the visitors were wise to the kicking game of Miller.

With five minutes remaining Halsall completed his hat trick. Broadbent tried a chip and chase but the ball was scooped up by the visitors. They shifted left and Cudjoe was able to get the ball free in the tackle to offload for the winger to ground.

Just 2 minutes later, Huddersfield had another. Adam Milner with the try on his return to the Jungle. An offload and a good line allowed the former Cas man to barge over in front of the sticks.
