Academy Fords beaten at Craven Park

A tough evening for the young Tigers that ended in defeat at Hull KR.

The hosts opened the scoring after an overlap on the left was executed and Barley took full advantage. Barley had his second 5 minutes later. A penalty for a high shot got them within 10m and the KR centre was there to barge in.

On 14 minutes, KR extended their lead through Stand Off Townend. A shift right to left found their number 7 and he took a gap in the Cas line to ground. A dummy from Ellis created a space in the defence on 20 minutes and an inside ball to Fushwick allows the prop to crash in to extend the lead to 22 points.

Just two minutes later, KR were in again. Another overlap, this time on the right edge is taken and Argent-Moss dived in and scored. After Hawkhead was sent to the bin, KR scored again. Space on the left and a decent shift allowed Forsyth to get his first try of the evening at the corner.

Cas got on the board straight after the break. Alfie Dean broke through and had Rooney on the inside. He made the pass to send the Fords’ full back in under the sticks. KR re-established their 32 point lead not long after through Argent-Moss. The winger rounded Sarbah and beat him for pace to score to the right of the sticks.

Barley completed his hat trick  with 15 to play. A break through the line and a burst of pace saw him go in easily.

Sarbah got one back for the Fords after diving in acrobatically at the corner before Rooney got his second from close range.

The scoring was finished off by another Barley try for the hosts after a move to the left edge paid off.
