Defeat for Cas Scholars at Wheldon Road

Castleford Tigers Scholarship lost 34-16 against Wigan Warriors Scholarship  at Wheldon Road in testing conditions.  

A 40/20 from Wigan got them within 20m and after knocking at the door, Swindley opened the scoring for the visitors. 

Cas got themselves level on 11 minutes. The ball was put through hands after forcing Wigan to drop out. When Lindsay got hold of the ball he ran in and scored in the corner. 

Cas edged in front just a minute later as Robinson saw a gap after the play the ball and scooted through two cherry and whites to score. 

Wigan found another breakthrough and edged in front halfway through the first half. An offload on the right side was met by Bentham who dotted down, backed up by a conversion from Wigan half-back Benson gave them the lead. 

They edged further in front not long after. A two-on-one was met by Arthurs and he went in at the corner. 

Cas clawed back just shy of half time. Cas made their momentum inside 10m count and put it through hands. From left to right, the ball found Dale and he strolled in to score! 

In a tight second half it took 23 minutes for the first score. Yeomans for the visitors made a quick step and found space to go in under the sticks. 

Rhys Firth got the Fords back into the game from close range with 13 to play. 

Wigan put the game to bed with 7 to play. Marsden picked up an offload at pace and went over to score the final try of the evening.
