TIGERS LDRL TEAM IN ACTION

social.jpg

Fans attending Magic Weekend in Newcastle will have the privilege of watching and supporting a truly inspirational adapted version of the sport.

It was fantastic to see so many LDRL players back out on the St. James’ Park pitch last year after a three-year absence due to Covid.

This year will be equally as memorable for our Tigers LDRL side who will run out during half-time of game two on the Saturday and we ask all of the travelling Fords support to show their support!

PLACES TO VISIT

Newcastle is a city steeped in culture so why not take the opportunity to have a look around some of its historical sites. The Newcastle Castle is originally a medieval fort which was built in the twelfth century. The Castle offers an intriguing insight into the history of this famous city and a pretty good view from above.

The Great North Museum is another top tourist attraction and is free to enter! Home to artefacts, fossils and galleries, the museum is a fascinating journey through history. There’s fun for all the family with ‘The Mouse House’ for under 5’s as well as regular activities for younger visitors.

The Life Science Centre is an award-winning tourist attraction which is a stone’s throw away from Newcastle Central Station. Another one for the whole family, the centre is home to plenty of hands-on exhibits as well as lots of eye-catching displays.

PLACES TO EAT

After a long day of watching the rugby, there is nothing better than being able to put your feet up and enjoy some good quality food!

The Gate, which is located close to the stadium, offers something for everyone with restaurants, bars, pubs, cinemas and more. Offers available at The Gate can be found above!

If you are looking to branch further out, why not try the Fat Hippo, which offers classic American favourites right in the city centre.

Blackfriars is located in a 13th century medieval friary and provides award-winning food in a unique location. It is the perfect spot if you are looking to dine somewhere more formal.

The Bridge Tavern serves up pub classics and even a fantastic Sunday Roast to finish off your weekend. It also has its own micro-brewery, so it is the perfect place for a pint or two.

GOING ON A NIGHT OUT?

Tyneside is well known for its night life and one of the best bars around is Madame Koo. Located in a fantastic setting, it really is the place to grab yourself a tasty cocktail.

Jalou, Livello and The Hudson Bar are all city centre bars which are highly recommended by locals.

Popworld Newcastle is also offering free-entry all night and have confirmed that they will permit entry to fans wearing their club colours!

We hope that Cas fans can cram in all the activities possible to make it a weekend they won’t forget!

A KIT DEDICATED TO TAWERA

social 2.jpg

The Tigers will take to the field in a specially designed jersey that pays homage to former legendary player, Tawera Nikau.

The stunning kit which is designed alongside the Club’s official kit partners OXEN and Nikau himself, is a mostly black shirt which features a yellow and white chevron on the front with added detailing which pays tribute to kits that Nikau donned during his time with the Tigers.

Fords fans will also spot that the shirt also gives a nod to Nikau’s Maori and New Zealand heritage with ‘Taiaha’ Maori spears across the sleeves and on the shorts as well as a chequered vee which matches the design of the Kiwis kit he wore whilst proudly running out for his country.

Tawera represented the Tigers from 1991 to 1996, playing an integral role in the famous 1994 Regal Trophy Final victory over Wigan Warriors and is widely regarded as one of the Club’s best-ever overseas players.

Castleford Tigers Magic Weekend 2023 kit is available to purchase now online at castlefordtigers.com/shop or in-store.
