The Fords are at home this Sunday to take on Hull FC in Round 6 of the Betfred Challenge Cup.

Cas ran close earlier this season away from home in Hull but came up just short, losing 32-30 after a late second half comeback at the MKM Stadium. Unfortunately, the spirited performance wasn’t enough, and the travelling supporters left empty handed.

This time around, the Tigers look to do one over the Hull side and progress to the next round of the Betfred Challenge Cup.

TIGERS TEAM NEWS

Liam Watts and Bureta Faraimo have both been handed a one match penalty notice for Grade B Dangerous Contact against Catalan Dragons last week so the pair will both miss the fixture. Elliot Wallis and Jason Qareqare are cup tied having played in the competition earlier in the season for Midlands Hurricanes and Bradford Bulls respectively.

Jacob Miller misses out through concussion protocol after failing his head injury assessment in the defeat over Catalans. George Hill features in the squad for the first time and could make an appearance.

OPPOSITION VIEW

Scott Taylor will miss the Round 6 clash after receiving a one match penalty notice for a Grade B offense for dangerous contact.

Jake Trueman could face his old side after his recent return from injury.

Edwards wants to recall Challenge Cup Glory

“The fans here have been on a trophy drought for a while now, so to go far in the competition and maybe bring something back for them would be really big.”

“It’s a proud Rugby League town, there’s no football in the town. Everyone is focussed on Rugby League, this town would appreciate some success, especially with how we’re going in the league.”

Andy Last ahead of Sunday’s clash

“We want to try and win every game we play in. Form hasn’t been great in the Super League, so we get to have 80 minutes under our belt against formidable opposition in Hull FC. We’re looking to right some wrongs in terms of performance and give a good account of ourselves and be in the hat for the next round.”

“We hope it’s a catalyst for better form and getting some momentum. Winning breeds confidence and the mood in the camp going into Huddersfield will be so different if we manage to get the win on Sunday.”

KEY BATTLES

Widdop vs Trueman

Experience against youth. Gareth Widdop will look to show his class on Sunday as he matches up against former tiger Jake Trueman. Trueman made 102 appearances for Cas and was named Young player of the Year in 2018 after being a key part in the Tigers go forward. Widdop on the other hand is hoping to find some form in a Cas shirt and get the Tigers back to winning ways.

Westerman vs Lovodua

Joe Westerman goes up against his former club this weekend and the veteran is ready to try and get one over the Hull outfit. He will be matched up in the middle against Joe Lovodua who signed for the Hull side in 2022, the two aren’t shy of contact and will look to battle throughout the day. Both players can set the platform for their teams and it’ll be a great battle for the neutrals.
