The Fords will head to Cumbria on Sunday for their next pre-season friendly as they face Whitehaven at the LEL Arena!

Cas were due to take part in their first contest of the year against Keighley Cougars last weekend which was unfortunately called off due to sub-zero temperatures, therefore Lee Radford’s men will be keen to take to the field this time around.

Sunday will mark the first match between the pair since Castleford were battling to make it back into Super League back in 2007, so it will be a nostalgic fixture for the Fords faithful who will be making the trip north.

TIGERS TEAM NEWS

Having missed out on the opportunity to run out at Keighley, First Team regulars Liam Watts, George Griffin, Nathan Massey, Adam Milner, and Jordan Turner, along with Kenny Edwards, George Lawler, Alex Mellor, and Jake Mamo are in line to have their first hit-outs of 2023.

New addition to the squad Albert Vete will be looking to make an impression on potentially his first Cas appearance and youngsters Cain Robb and Jacob Hookem will be in familiar territory having represented Whitehaven during loan stints.

OPPOSITION VIEW

Whitehaven finished their 2022 Betfred Championship campaign in 10th place, above the likes of London Broncos and Newcastle Thunder.

Haven also had a special Challenge Cup tie last year when they welcomed reigning champions St Helens to a packed LEL Arena and despite being on the wrong end of a 46-4 score line, it will be a day that will live long in the memory.

Their most recent pre-season contest came against Wigan Warriors last weekend where the hosts battled hard, but a young Wigan side eventually came out 22-14 winners.
