With the Fords on a three-match winning streak, Saturday’s headline encounter in Newcastle against the Rhinos offers an excellent opportunity to lay down another marker for Castleford’s intent to stay in the playoff positions.

Big back-to-back home wins over Catalans Dragons and Huddersfield Giants have moved the Tigers up the fifth spot in the table as the whole of the top-flight competition heads to Tyneside this weekend.

The Tigers’ Head Coach has available for selection Liam Watts following his one-match suspension, and backrower Alex Sutcliffe who has been working his back into First Team matters following a knee injury suffered at Easter. The 23-year-old has featured for the Cas Reserves side recently and was also on loan for Midland Hurricanes this past weekend.

Paul McShane and Nathan Massey will miss out due to picking up one-match bans in Castleford’s impressive win over Huddersfield last Friday night. Jake Trueman had been ever-present up until this point in 2022 but following an ACL injury picked up in the game against the Giants he will, unfortunately, be out for the remainder of 2022, ending his time at Cas as he moves onto pastures new in 2023.

St James’ Park has been a happy hunting ground for Castleford, who have yet to taste defeat at the home of Newcastle United. With the playoffs hunt only heating up, and the Tigers looking to get a third win over Leeds in 2022 so far, it promises to be an exciting occasion.
