Castleford Tigers will be on the hunt for another Betfred Super League victory when they travel to play Huddersfield Giants on Saturday!

The contest at The John Smith’s Stadium is scheduled to kick-off at 3:15pm and tickets are still available to purchase at the ticket office at The Jungle, in our Carlton Lanes Store, and online at castlefordtigers.com/tickets.

The club’s official coach travel is now sold out for what should be a fierce contest between two sides who picked up impressive victories last time out and we are looking forward to seeing the traveling Fords faithful in full voice.

If supporters are unable to attend the match, it will be available to view live on Sky Sports Main Event, with coverage starting at 3pm.

GOING FOR BACK-TO-BACK VICTORIES

Lee Radford’s men put in an outstanding display to claim their maiden win of the campaign last weekend against Hull FC.

The Fords got off to the perfect start when Daniel Smith picked up the ball after a knock on and charged over just under 9 seconds into the game.

It was a back-and-forth contest with Cheyse Blair, Gareth O’Brien and Greg Eden all touching down for the Tigers before Cas’ #23 threw a perfectly timed dummy and held off Jake Connor for 15 metres before stretching out to secure his hat-trick as well as the match clinching try.

Jubilation filled Wheldon Road as Sweet Caroline rang out after the final hooter blew and Radford will be hoping his pack can take that momentum into this weekend’s fixture.

TIGERS TEAM NEWS

Cas will be boosted even further for the Huddersfield match with potentially two big names coming back into the fold.

Jake Mamo and Kenny Edwards both return to the 21-man squad after missing the last two contests and may be in line to come up against their former club on the weekend. Liam Watts is also back in contention after serving his one-match ban he picked up following the Tigers’ away match at Hull KR.

THE OPPOSITION

After a slightly disappointing 2021, Giants have got their new campaign off to a bright start, winning three out of their first four Super League fixtures.

Ian Watson’s men have seen off the likes of Toulouse, Hull KR, and Salford Red Devils with their sole defeat coming via a 22-12 loss at Wigan Warriors.

All-time top scorer and danger man Jermaine McGillvary has already helped himself to a couple of tries this term and it looks like young charger Will Pryce is back to full speed after his return from injury, stepping effortlessly away from Elijah Taylor before dotting down during their last contest.

It will be the Tigers’ first visit to the John Smith’s Stadium since 2019 and it will require a repeat of last weekend’s top performance if they are to return to Wheldon Road with two points.

RADFORD’S PREVIEW

Head Coach Lee Radford addressed the media ahead of the Huddersfield clash and outlined what he expects from Saturday’s fixture.

“That first win was obviously important for us and the manner that we did it in. It is massively important that we back that first win up this week. Our kick chase is going to be really important for us this week in particular, especially with the back field they have and the form that they are in. You know it is going to be a tough gig whenever you go there, and I have never had an easy game there. I expect nothing different when we go there this weekend.”

SMITH ON GIANTS TEST

Castleford prop and former Huddersfield player Daniel Smith spoke to the press this week and declared that the squad have a real spring in their step after Cas’ first victory of the season.

“Everyone has got a bit of confidence back this week and we will take that into this weekend against Huddersfield. We aim to win every week and I am sure if we play like we did in our last game then we will come away with the two points. They have got some decent players and some good strike which we will have to contain.”
