Having initially come through the youth ranks at Leeds Rhinos, the 20-year-old joined up with the Tigers ahead of the 2020 season and has been developing in the first team environment ever since.

Martin made his first appearance in Cas colours back in 2020 during a 38-24 victory over Hull KR and went onto run out nine times in the 2021 season, scoring his maiden senior try against Salford.

Following confirmation of his extension, Martin spoke to castlefordtigers.com and began by explaining his delight to be staying at the Wheldon Road.

“I am really excited to be staying at Cas for another year. It is my hometown club, my dad played here, and my mum is from Cas, so I am really excited to stay here. With the new coaches coming in, it will be a fresh start for me.”

The forward experienced a big step in his development last term making plenty more appearances than the season before and Martin claimed that he wants to keep that progression going next campaign.

“I think this year has been a kind of breakthrough year for me because I have played nine games this year. I feel this year that I have really progressed compared to last year when I only played one game and I am excited to see what next year holds.

“The more games I can get, the better for me. To get that experience and to get my name out there so I can show what I can do.”

Daryl Powell signed Martin during his time as Tigers Head Coach and the #28 thanked his former coach for his guidance but also mentioned how much he is looking forward to working under Lee Radford in the future.

“Powelly was really good for me because he has given me opportunities and I am thankful for that. He has really brought me on from when I first came here.

“I have had some really good conversations with Radders and I am really excited to work with him. He was a forward as well like myself so I feel like I can learn a lot from him and the other coaches as well.”

In closing, Martin voiced his appreciation to the fans who will continue to back him next campaign, by saying: “I played in the first game the fans were back against Hull KR.

“It just makes such a difference with them getting behind us all and myself and all the other players are grateful for the donations that they have given. It makes a big difference to us.”

Castleford Tigers Head Coach Lee Radford described Martin as an up-and-coming player who he is looking forward to tutoring during his time with the club.

“It is going to be a good opportunity to see what Brad is all about. He is going to get plenty of opportunities to develop and improve some of the good stuff he already does as a player.

“He’s a tough young bloke and I like the way he plays.”
