Millward Trophy contested on Saturday

This Saturday, Hull Kingston Rovers and Castleford Tigers will come together to celebrate the life of a rugby league great by competing for the Roger Millward Trophy.

The two clubs since 2018 have contested a match annually in memory of Roger Millward who started his magnificent career at Castleford before joining Hull KR. The trophy itself is modelled on Roger’s famous number six shirt, and the match for the trophy alternates between grounds each season.

In 2021 the trophy was set to be contested at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle back in May, however, due to Covid-19 restrictions a trophy presentation would not have been able to take place in the manner that both clubs felt it deserved. Following conversations between Castleford and Hull KR, the decision was made that Rovers would host the match for the Roger Millward Trophy later in the year in the hope that the Government’s restrictions would be eased.

Both Castleford Tigers and Hull Kingston Rovers are now delighted to confirm that the Roger Millward Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the huge Betfred Super League encounter on Saturday, 11th September and that members of the Millward family will be in attendance at Hull College Craven Park.

Tickets and travel for the match are available NOW online at castlefordtigers.com/tickets

Fans are encouraged to get to the ground early to see an exciting curtain-raiser between Hull KR and Castleford Tigers Academy Under 19’s which kicks off at 4.30pm. Plus the Robin’s fan area ‘Craven Streat’ will be open from 4pm with lots of food, drink, and entertainment ahead of the Super League match.
