Sam Hall signs full-time with Tigers
Castleford Tigers are pleased to announce that 17-year old Sam Hall has signed a contract to become a full time player for 2020 and 2021.
The young Tiger made his Super League debut against Wigan Warriors on Friday, 7th February and impressed as part of a down on numbers Castleford side. He becomes the latest product of the Castleford Tigers' youth system to become a full-time player such as First Team players; Jacques O’Neill, Calum Turner and Lewis Peachey.
Since joining the club at 14 from Oulton Raiders, Hall has come through the Scholarship side and then had his first year with the Academy in 2019, he also featured in the Tigers’ 2020 pre-season fixtures against Bradford and Widnes.
Sam will mainly feature for the Under 18’s and Reserves going forward but is beyond delighted to become a full-time player for the Fords.
Commenting on the news with castlefordtigers.com Sam said: “It’s such a great opportunity, obviously I played that Wigan game and the news came about quick and it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid, I’m so happy it’s happened really.
“Both my brothers have played rugby league, my grandad played and it’s just something that I’ve wanted to do since the age of three, when you know you want to do it you have to do it. When the opportunity came up I couldn’t turn it down.”
First Team Head Coach Daryl Powell added: “It’s great news for ourselves, Darren Higgins and his Youth Development staff such as Tony Smith & Danny Evans who have done brilliant work to get this young man through our system. Sam’s a quality young person and player and making his debut in the circumstances he did, I think he handled it so well. He has a big future ahead of him. I’m looking forward to seeing how he further develops in our environment."
