The last TTP sessions the Foundation were able to roll out were back in October, therefore, the club are delighted to have been given the green light to start up again in June.

Sessions are led by Castleford Tigers’ Youth Performance staff and focus on both the fundamentals of the game and technical skills, as well as player’s physical and mental development.

The Tigers Talent Pathway is a vital step on the wider Tigers Player Pathway and enables a route from boys under-12 to under-16 available, with the pathway supported by coaches from the local community game who will attend regular coaching workshops to ensure the best possible player development environment.

Since starting up in 2015 the programme has been attended by several current First Team players, who have since gone on to make their Super League debuts, including Lewis Peachey, and Sam Hall. The programme is also the first opportunity for promising young players to showcase their talents and attitudes towards coaching and development to the Castleford performance staff.

Castleford Tigers Head of Youth Performance Darren Higgins describes just how key the TTP is in terms of player development and in the wider community.

“The Tigers Talent Programme underpins our player pathway here at the club and in recent years we have seen players such as Lewis Peachey, Sam Hall and Brad Graham progress all the way to Super League level via our scholarship and academy programmes having attended TTP as junior players.

“As a club we take great pride in having offered player development opportunities to over 700 players since the programmes formation in 2015. Now that the community game is back in full swing it’s great to be able to offer this provision and we look forward to working with players from the local and surrounding areas once again.”
