Heritage Officer – Join Our Team
Part-time (18 hours per week)
Salary: £29,528 to £30,178 (pro rata)
Contract: Two-year fixed term (with potential for extension)

Castleford Tigers Foundation (Tigers Trust) is looking for a Heritage Officer to help deliver an exciting new project: “History of Castleford and District Amateur Rugby League.”
This role is all about celebrating the rich history of our community, preserving its legacy, and sharing inspiring stories with future generations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Researching the people and stories behind amateur rugby league in Castleford and the surrounding area - from the 1890s right up to today.
- Reconnecting families and communities by tracing descendants and encouraging them to get involved in heritage activities.
- Creating eye-catching displays and information boards to bring history to life.
- Conserving and caring for heritage items, making sure they’re well looked after.
- Supporting and delivering heritage events, exhibitions, and community activities.
- Supervising and working alongside passionate volunteers.
- Promoting the project through local partnerships, marketing, and community engagement.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Help deliver the Project Plan and make sure activities run smoothly.
- Collect feedback and help evaluate how well the project is meeting its goals.
- Support event planning, marketing, and community outreach.
- Build strong working relationships with local organisations, groups, and individuals.
- Keep resources organised, equipment well maintained, and everything running efficiently.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Confident presenting and engaging with different audiences.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in heritage research, education, or archives.
- Good IT skills, especially for creating and managing archival records.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Castleford and District amateur rugby league history.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Additional Information
- You’ll report to the Foundation Manager and work closely with our steering group and volunteers.
- This role may involve occasional evening and weekend work, as well as activity during school holidays.
- Appointment is subject to a satisfactory DBS check.
