Andy Djeukessi makes senior debut

Friday night’s Round 20 Betfred Super League fixture marked a proud moment for Castleford Tigers and their youth development programme, as another youth graduate, Andy Djeukessi, made his senior debut.
Djeukessi learned of his selection on Thursday morning when Director of Rugby Chris Chester announced the team ahead of the Captain’s Run training session.
In a touching moment, his mother was on hand to surprise him with his number 44 playing shirt, presented alongside Director of Pathways & Coaching Rob Nickolay. The emotional moment was made even more special with several video messages from his fellow Tigers youth players and his community club, East Leeds.
The young winger has been a standout performer in the Tigers’ Reserve grade fixtures this season. His form was further bolstered by a successful loan spell at Workington Town, where he gained valuable experience and demonstrated his potential.
On Friday night, Djeukessi stepped up to the top level and played a full eighty minutes on debut, earning his Castleford Tigers Heritage Number — 1072.
