Club Photographer to raise funds for Mose Masoe and Tigers Foundation Dementia Programme
Castleford Tigers Club Photographer Melanie Allatt is getting 14 inches of her hair cut off in order to raise money for both the Mose Masoe Foundation and for the Tigers Foundation’s launch of a new dementia programme on Friday, 5th November.

Melanie is also donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust, which provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
Mose’s story has touched people across sport and around the world as he continues to inspire others through his fight. Having began his career in the NRL with Sydney Roosters and Penrith Panthers, Mose made the switch to Super League in 2014 with St. Helens. He claimed the Super League title in 2014 before moving to Hull KR in 2017 where he was part of the team that gained automatic promotion back to the top tier.
During a pre-season friendly against Wakefield Trinity in 2020 the Samoan international suffered a career-ending and life-changing spinal injury, damaging two vertebrae in his spine at the age of 30.
The Mose Masoe Foundation was set up to raise funds for Mose and to help relieve the financial and mental hardship of players who suffer spinal injuries affecting their welfare and quality of life.
Melanie explained that she wanted to do her bit for someone who has given their all to the game of rugby league and to be able to support them in their time of need.
“I chose the Mose Masoe Foundation because to me he always shows courage through adversity. He has put his body on the line for the sport of rugby league all through his career, so it will be great to give a little back.”
Dementia is a syndrome which currently effects over 850,000 people in the UK and with that number estimated to grow to over 1 million by 2025, Castleford Tigers Foundation are looking to do their bit to help out.
The Foundation are in the process of launching a new dementia programme which will aim to support people who suffer with dementia in the local area.
Club Photographer Melanie stated that she has seen the effects that dementia has on families as she aims to help the fight against the syndrome.
“It is an incredibly worthwhile cause as it is a heart-breaking illness which is devastating for the families and loved ones. I really hope to help raise some money and raise awareness for these two great charities who do some brilliant work.”
