The official charity partner of the Tigers, The Prince of Wales Hospice offers care for patients in the local area with life-limiting illnesses such as motor neurone disease, cancer, chronic heart, and lung failure.

Castleford Tigers has a tremendous commercial family of partners and together with staff at the Club, they will be tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks which are Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough with the aim of completing the challenge in under 12 hours. Those taking on the challenge will be able to camp the night before and the night after thanks to Exped Adventures who will ensure their full support with their excellent guides.

DONATIONS in support of the Tigers & partners’ challenge can be made directly on The Prince of Wales Hospice website HERE.

Speaking about the challenge, Castleford Tigers’ Head of Commercial Partnerships Craig Jeffels said: “The Prince of Wales Hospice plays a vital role within our community and is close to a lot of people's hearts locally. As our designated charity, we work closely with their team throughout the year on a number of fundraising events.

“The last twelve months have been catastrophic for all charities and that is why we have set up this challenge to help fill the void in the Hospice’s fundraising due to the pandemic. Our partners at the Club have been very supportive throughout the past year and have agreed to support us with this event and take part!

“I am hoping as a collective and with our partners' assistance, that we can raise a fantastic amount of money which will really make a difference to the Hospice. Several of our off-field team will be taking part, myself included, and we ask only if you can donate then please do so.

“I’d also like to thank Rebecca & Jill from the Hospice for helping us get this off the ground, we won’t let you down.”

Serving the Five Towns area from their location in Pontefract, the Hospice relies on over £5,000 each day, in addition to its funding from the NHS, to continue operating and deliver the outstanding care that they kindly provide.

Castleford Tigers have had a long-standing partnership with The Prince of Wales Hospice and over the past few years, the Club has proudly raised over £24,000 for the charity. Highlights include our entire First Team players and staff taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks in the winter of 2019, a match against Leeds Rhinos was dedicated in the Hospice’s honour and our youth team players have frequently volunteered their time to assist at the Hospice.

Speaking about the Tigers and partners’ challenge, Jill Kirkham the Fundraising Manager at The Prince of Wales Hospice added: “The last year has been tough for us all especially business and charities, with The Prince of Wales Hospice saw its funding dry up overnight. However, with the support from the amazing Five Towns community, we got through it.

“The Castleford Tigers partners who are supporting this challenge in raising funds for us as the Club’s charity partner is so important to us, so we can continue to deliver the amazing Hospice Care to our local community.

“The Hospice team will be there to cheer the Tigers and their partners on, and we hope plenty of people support them all in this mission, and we thank those who choose to donate too.”
