Former Bradford Bulls winger and full back Leah Jones has signed with Castleford Tigers.

The 30-year-old became a free agent after missing out on team selection for Bradford Bulls in pre-season.

Despite playing rugby league for only two years, Jones transformed herself into one of the best players in the women’s game and even made the England National Performance squad last year.

She said: “It’s fantastic to be here. Playing against Castleford last season, they were the best team we came up against all season so being here is fantastic.

“In pre-season I wasn’t able to commit to Bradford probably as much as they wanted me to. Obviously when the team selection came round I didn’t make that selection so wanting to still play this season I started looking at other teams. I contacted Lindsay and she was happy to give me a trial at training, and here I am.”

Head coach Lindsay Anfield has welcomed Jones saying: “It’s great to have someone of Leah’s quality join our team.

“While Leah is still relatively new to rugby league – following on from a glittering football career – she has quickly rose through the ranks in the Women’s Super League. She is hugely talented player and we’re all excited to see her in action in 2020.”
