Castleford Tigers Women have bolstered their forward pack with the signing of Sophie Todd.

Sophie joins the Tigresses from Nottingham Outlaws and she’s hoping to make a big impact in the Women’s Super League.

Speaking about the move the 25-year-old said: “I’ve been playing rugby league with Nottingham Outlaws mainly with the men because we don’t really have an established women’s team. I got the opportunity to come up here and I took it.”

When asked what made her join Castleford she said: “The reputation of Cas. The coaching and the set-up is second to none. I came up, had a go and I had to take it with both hands.

“I’ve had it in the pipeline for a while. I’ve been playing Championship rugby union but I was injured at the tail end of October so I thought to have three months off and get my body ready and give rugby league a go in 2020.”

Apart from an extensive rugby union background, Todd is also a former Aussie Rules international having represented England and Great Britain.

The forward has been training with the squad since the beginning of pre-season and has shown great commitment by making the long commute every single week.

Head coach Lindsay Anfield underlined Sophie’s commitment saying: “Making the two or so hour commute three times a week shows great dedication.

“Sophie came down to train last season and we really wanted to give her an opportunity to play some competitive rugby league here in Castleford.”
