Castleford Tigers are saddened to learn of the passing of club legend Derek Edwards.

During a 12-year period at the club Derek would play over 300 times in the successful Classy Cas side of the 1960's and early 70's as Castleford’s #1 at fullback. Edwards' accolades with the club include Castleford's two famous Challenge Cup victories in 1969 and 1970, and he was part of the winning sides that lifted the Floodlit Trophy three times in 1965, 1966 and 1967.

With his impressive performances he was selected for Yorkshire five times and made six international appearances for the Great Britain Lions. He was one of five Castleford players who were part of the Ashes winning tour in 1970 against Australia.

Everyone at Castleford Tigers would like to send their condolences to Derek’s family and friends, our thoughts are with them at this time.
