Dennis Hartley: Funeral Details

‘Big Den’ Dennis Hartley sadly passed away last week, and the club can now announce the details for his funeral.
Dennis played for Hunslet & Doncaster before joining Castleford as internationally experienced forward in the 1960s, and he would go on to play for the Fords over 260 times and be a key man in the club’s two Challenge Cup victories in 1969 and 1970. He passed away peacefully last week, aged 83.
Dennis will be laid to rest on Thursday, November 28th at Pontefract Crematorium at 3pm, ahead of the service the funeral procession will pass through the Mend-A-Hose Jungle at 2.15pm. Supporters are invited to come to the stadium to pay their respects to a terrific servant of the club on his final visit to Wheldon Road. There will be a guard of honour for Dennis at the ground with former Fords players lining up on the concourse to pay tribute. Fans wishing to attend are asked to arrive ahead of the procession’s arrival at 2.15pm.
The service will then be conducted at 3pm at Pontefract Crematorium, followed by an evening celebration of Dennis’ life taking place at Roundhill Club.
