Tigers PDRL to raise funds for teammate

In a fantastic representation of Castleford’s #ONECLUB spirit the Castleford Tigers Physical Disability Rugby League team have organized with Leeds Rhinos an exhibition match to take place on Sunday 17th November at 2.30pm at Brotherton Bulldogs.

The match has been arranged to raise funds for the Fords player Adam Rimmington who unfortunately suffered an injury which has made it difficult for him to work. Adam, who works as a Prison Officer at a local prison, plays for Castleford as one of the able-bodied players and in one of the finals matches against Warrington dislocated his foot and broke his ankle, tibia and fibula. This meant that Adam was unable to properly feature in the Fords’ curtain raising match at the Super League Grand Final, however he did manage to get on with his crutches for the final minute of the match.

Head Coach of Castleford PDRL, Neil Barnaby discussed how the team wanted to help out their fellow teammate; “We’re buzzing that we have got this game on for Adam especially after such a severe injury, even as an able-bodied player. As a team we wanted to do something to help him out and together with Leeds Rhinos we’ve organized this match with items up for auction on the day as well to raise some funds to help him out.”

“We’re very thankful to Leeds for agreeing and wanting to participate, Tom Brindle at the RFL for getting it sanctioned and Brotherton Bulldogs for hosting it.”

If you can join our PDRL side on the day, please do so and cheer them on as they help out one of their fellow players! Items up for auction include a signed 2020 Tigers shirt, a signed Warrington Wolves & Leeds Rhinos shirt.
