Despite the Tigresses going into half time with an 8-4 lead, Leeds Rhinos produced a comeback and scored three unanswered tries in the second half to win the 2019 Women's Grand Final.

Castleford started the game in blistering style forcing Leeds to fumble the ball with the second tackle. Cas took their first opportunity of the game and got over the line with just two minutes played. A flurry of passes found their way over to the teenager Maisie Lumb who slid into the corner for her 15th try of the season.

Five minutes later Castleford doubled their lead. A beautiful kick by the first-ever Woman of Steel Georgia Roche piled the pressure on the Leeds defence. The Tigresses then moved the ball down the left and got across courtesy of Lacey Owen.

But soon Leeds were back in it as Abby Eatock broke the line for the Rhinos. Despite being chased for the final ten metres by full back Tara Stanley the centre slid into the corner. This narrowed the points margin to 8-4.

The Tigresses got off quickly again after the re start. Kelsey Gentles nearly got over the try line in the far-left corner but, the Leeds defence stood strong and held her up on this occasion.

The final continued to be nail-biting close with both teams getting their fair share of the ball and opportunities to increase the score line.

Leeds then levelled the game after a clever sidestep from Fran Goldthrop allowed to find the try line.

Rhinos continued to press as Fran Golthorp got her second try of the evening. The try was converted by Courtney Hill to give Leeds a 14-8 lead.

Leeds soon scored again, this time courtesy of Ellie Frain. The try was converted to make it 20-8 to Leeds.

Cas pulled a try back through winger Kelsey Gentles, but an unsuccessful conversion meant the Tigresses still had an 8-point gap to make up.

It proved to much work for Cas to pull back and they lose out in the grand final 20-12.
