Castelford Tigers have been named a finalist for the sixth consecutive year in the IOG Industry Awards!
The Castleford Tigers Grounds Team have been named finalists for the Institute of Groundsmanship’s Rugby Football League Award which is part of the IOG Industry Awards recognising the passion, dedication and challenges faced by grounds staff across all levels of sport.
It means that our Head Groundsman Stuart Vause is a finalist for a sixth consecutive year and the pitch he takes charge of will be independently judged ahead of the big awards evening on Wednesday, 30th October.
Stu spoke about the news saying: “I am absolutely buzzing after being confirmed as a finalist, it’s brilliant to know that your work is getting recognised and to be named a finalist six years on the spin is something really special.
“It’s been a good year for growing conditions but with the surface being good it’s been used so much more this year, probably 40 or 50 more uses than it has in previous years. It’s tough trying to fit your maintenance in between pitch usage which can be three times a day, but it’s a challenge and luckily I love a challenge!
“It’s quite a privilege to just be part of it all and to be with other groundsmen from around the country it’s brilliant and to keep this record going of being in the final shows that you must be doing something right. I know that the pitch has improved since I’ve been here but to keep being recognised on a national level is pretty humbling.”
