Castleford made it 11 league wins in a row after thumping local rivals Featherstone Rovers 74-8 on home soil last weekend.
The black and amber scored seven unanswered tries in the first 40 minutes. Kelsey Gentles scored two tries in the opening ten minutes whilst Lucy Eastwood, Maisie Lumb, Rhiannon Marshall and Woman of Steel Georgia Roche all added their name to the scoresheet before the break.
After half time Rovers misery continued as Marshall ran in her third try, Gentles also got her hattrick shortly after.
Despite Featherstone’s best efforts, they couldn’t keep up with this in form Tigresses side. As Grace Field, Georgia Roche, Maisie Lumb and Jasmine Cudjoe all crossed over the whitewash to make the final score 74-8.
This weekend Anfield’s side take on Wakefield Trinity in what is a crucial game in the race for the league leaders shield.
The Super League newcomers have found life in the topflight difficult this season with just one win from their eleven Super League games. They currently sit at the foot of the table with two points. Their only victory came against fellow strugglers York City Knights back in round two (10-6).
Cas and Trinity have locked horns twice this season. The first meeting will sit in the memory of black and amber fans for a long time as Castleford claimed a 100-0 win in the Challenge Cup semi-final.
The second meeting came in round seven of the Super League where Castleford earned a 54-8 victory against their West Yorkshire rivals.
In the Castleford camp, the race to become top try scorer is reaching its climax. Kelsey Gentles currently leads the pack with 20 tries. But, Woman of Steel Georgia Roche is right behind with 19, and full back Tara Stanley is just one try behind in 3rd place with 18.
There was some more positive news for winger Kelsey Gentles this week, as she was awarded the inaugural Supporters Club Women’s Player of the year!
