Wigan game switched to Thursday
Posted: Saturday 7th September 2019 - 8:00 AM
Castleford Tigers will now face Wigan Warriors on Thursday, 12th September in the final round of the regular season.
The fixture change was confirmed late last night by the Betfred Super League and Sky Sports, with the clash brought forward 24 hours in order to be broadcast live.
It means the Tigers and the Warriors will now be responsible for kicking off what promises to be an incredible weekend of rugby league as the race for the play-offs and the battle to avoid relegation goes down to the wire.
Following Thursday’s superb win over Hull FC, Cas will head to the DW Stadium on Thursday night knowing a victory over the second-placed Warriors would secure a place in the end-of-season play-offs. However, a draw or a defeat would hand an opportunity to the Black and Whites who would leapfrog the Tigers into the top-five should they beat league leaders St Helens on Friday night.
This week’s clash will be the third meeting between Cas and Wigan this year, with both teams each winning one of the matches so far ahead of another mouth-watering contest.
