Castleford Tigers host rivals Wakefield in a double header
Posted: Wednesday 14th August 2019 - 5:13 PM
Following a brave effort against Wigan Warriors, Castleford Tigers under 19s return to action this Thursday night when they take on Wakefield Trinity.
Tony Smith's side took the lead against the academy league leaders on two occasions before falling to a 18-10 defeat at Robin Park.
In spite of an injury crisis, Castleford have put on a number of strong performances in recent weeks – none more so than their 20-12 win over Bradford Bulls at Odsal two weeks ago.
Wakefield, on the other hand, have lost two from their last three games. Their 26-14 win over Bradford ended a two match losing run and the visitors will be hoping to use that newly found momentum against the Tigers.
Last time that Castleford and Wakefield locked horns it was Trinity who came away 34-22 winners at the Mobile Rocket stadium.
A win for Castleford could see them move up to 10thplace above City of Hull Academy.
Wakefield, meanwhile, have a chance to leapfrog London Broncos into 6thplace with a victory at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Thursday’s game kicks off at 7pm and is part of a double header. At 5pm the England Talent Pathway tri-series gets underway with Castleford taking on Wakefield.
Entry is £3 for adults, £1 concessions and free for season ticket holders.
