The Tigresses come into the fixture with the disappointing Challenge Cup result being a distant memory as they put 50 points past Bradford Bulls last Sunday in their return to the Super League

Olivia Grace, Tara Stanley and Rhiannon Marshall all added their name to the scoresheet twice as well as Georgia Roche who scored the opening try. The 50-16 win keeps the Tigresses top of the pile - still the only team in the league to be unbeaten.

But this Sunday sees the Super Leagues contender taking on the champions for the first time since April. The two sides last met in round two, with the Tigresses coming out on top in an entertaining game in Wigan. The score line being 36-14 to the black and amber.

The cherries currently sit 4thin the Women’s Super league with four victories and four defeats to their name. The champions have beat York City Knights, Featherstone Roves, Wakefield Trinity and Bradford Bulls so far this season who all sit below them in the table.

However, last week Featherstone Rovers gained an unlikely 2 points from the champions with a slim 18-16 victory. So, Wigan will be desperate for a win this weekend to edge their way back up the table.

With four games left of the regular season after this Sunday, every game and every result is crucial for the Tigresses, in order to try and win the league leaders shield.

Grace Field understands that Wigan can pose a big threat to Castleford this Sunday and that it’s important to be prepared: “They’re a big physical side. We’re anticipating that and we’re looking to give them a good game”.
