There was nothing between the two sides at half time with the score line being all square at 10-10. The Tigresses couldn’t find a way through in the second half and suffer heartache again losing 16-10 in the final.

It was Leeds who started the game more brightly, with a clever run straight down the middle which shocked Castleford’s defence. Luckily the full back Tara Stanley kept composed to stop Caitlin Beevers getting over the whitewash.

The Tigresses soon found their way with Lacey Owens nearly finding the try line 10 minutes in, but she was just dragged into touch by the opposition.

Castleford kept on pressing deep in the Rhinos half and their patience was soon rewarded, with an outstanding try from Rhiannon Marshall to get the first points on the board in the final. Charging through the field beating multiple defenders with clever footwork and pace to find the right-hand corner and give the black and amber a 4-0 lead.

But the experienced Leeds side responded within minutes after pressing down the field and their kick finding the hands of Fran Goldthorpe, who dived over the try line. Courtney Hill converted to make it 6-4 to Leeds.

The Rhinos then came back again exploiting the space on the wing, Caitlin Beavers managed to find the room and just beat Kelsey Gentles to the line, to extend their lead to 10-4.

However, the Tigresses quickly found their way back in the match through Tamzin Renouf, who powered under the posts to give Castleford some much needed points and confidence. Tara Stanley converted to make it all square at half time.

The second half also started with a fiery pace, with both teams raring to get going again. Kelsey Gentles nearly found her way over, but she was held up by a resilient Leeds defence.

But the first points of the second half went to Leeds through Courtney Hill who ran down the field to put her side into the lead. Hill converted her try to make it 16-10 to Leeds.

10 minutes from the end Tara Stanley desperately tried to inspire her side with a run to the corner, but she was held up by a resilient Leeds defence.
