Posted: Friday 19th July 2019 - 10:00 AM
Budding young players looking to learn more about the club’s Category 3 Pathway can learn more at an event next week.
Taking place on Wednesday, 31st July at 6pm in the restaurant at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, it will include presentations from head coach Daryl Powell, Head of Youth Darren Higgins and BTEC Tutor Adam Powell on what the course involves.
The Tigers’ Category 3 Development Academy is a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport worth up to three A-Levels. Learners can go into university education or into the workplace as a result of successful completion of the two-year course, whilst one participant, Dom Dyson, recently joined the club’s under-19s academy as a result of impressing on the Category 3 pathway.
The course sees students take part in professional Rugby League training, including strength and conditioning sessions and a technical rugby league training programme, at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle.
There are various options of academy study alongside the rugby league elements, with next week’s event including information on both the education and player pathway course elements, including timetables and training plans.
There is no need to book, anybody interested is welcome to turn up at the event at 6pm.
