With just 5 miles separating the sides, Featherstone Rovers are Castleford’s most local rival and the Tigresses are ready for their first league meeting of the season.

Both sides locked horns in round three of the Challenge Cup where the black and amber took a convincing 48-4 win.

This will be Castleford’s 8th game of the season and Lindsay Anfield’s side will be keen to maintain their unbeaten run.

Their rivals Featherstone Rovers currently sit 6th In the table losing out to Bradford Bulls, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and Wigan Warriors. However, they have overcome super league newcomers Wakefield Trinity winning 40-8.

The Tigresses have proved to be successful in this fixture last season, winning away 40-32. The black and amber also beat Featherstone later in the 2018 season on home turf 34-8.

New signing Frankie Townend is set to make her debut for the Tigresses after joining from Oulton. Another new name in the squad is Becky Grady.

Grady plays her rugby for Cutsyke Raidettes however, due to her impressive performances in League One plus, Castleford’s recent injury crisis, the club has decided to give the youngster an opportunity of a lifetime.

Castleford and Cutsyke have a dual registration partnership meaning the two teams can exchange players. Earlier in the season, the likes of Sammy Watts, Kirsty Higo and Sam Jordan have played for the Raidettes.

There are a number of players who are missing. Many of those are long term injuries such as Georgie Hetherington and Lacey Owen. Lucy Eastwood is also out with a broken ankle while Courtney Pointon misses out with her own ankle injury problems.
