Castleford face Champions

Following their thrashing of York, Castleford now face a completely different challenge as they take on the reigning Women’s Super League champions.

Last year both teams met twice and, on both occasions it proved to be an incredibly tight encounter. A draw at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle was followed by a slender Castleford victory at Robins Park.

Speaking ahead of this latest game, head coach Lindsay Anfield said: “The girls are really looking forward to the challenge of Wigan and benchmarking themselves on how far they have come since last season.

“We still have a few out with injuries but again, this provides an opportunity for the youngsters to have a crack at last years’ Champions.

“Our girls have worked hard this week and I’d like to see them play fast and expansive rugby. Wigan are really good at slowing the game down when we get a roll on. Our girls are aware of this and know that staying composed is going to be vital.”
