As part of the link up, the Tigers Trust will provide coaching expertise and advice during regular sessions at the MDA in Malvern, Worcestershire.

MDA students will also have access to Castleford Tigers ETP events and home games at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

In welcoming the new partnership, Stuart Hood, Academy Director for the MDA, said: "We are very excited about teaming up with such a great Rugby League club as Castleford Tigers. Their ethos as a club and their investment in youth through the Castleford Tigers Trust is well known.

"It was clear early on that they shared the same vision as ourselves, in wanting to produce the very best rugby league players that we can, in the very best way possible.

"I would like to thank Tim Rumford, Tigers Trust Community Manager for making this partnership a reality.’

Fred Dowdeswell, Business Manager at Dyson Perrins, stated: "We welcome the new partnership and look forward to welcoming MDA students to the school and making them part of the school community. We will be working closely with the MDA to maximise the educational potential of all our students.”

The Mercian Development Academy based at Dyson Perrins Church of England Academy, Malvern, Worcestershire will provide education and rugby league training required to support players to reach the highest level in the sport.

The programme caters for players from 16-18 years of age. The MDA provides a structured pathway to support the development and transition of promising young rugby league players through to the professional game and ultimately the Super League with Castleford Tigers.

It’s an exciting time for the Mercian Development Academy and this is another big step in establishing a Rugby League hub in Malvern, Worcestershire.
