Help support our local Food Banks

Once again we’ll be doing our best to help our local Food Banks this Christmas time. Smawthorne Community Church Food Bank & The Well Project Food Bank really need your help to support those in need.

The Food Bank is a straight forward system of collection, collation and distribution of basic food items to support people at times of crisis. Both of these Food Banks have helped many people in Castleford, Normanton and the surrounding area since they opened in 2013 and 2014. These two Food Banks are run by a team of amazing volunteers.

This Christmas Castleford Tigers are making one simple request. If you are calling in to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle this December to collect your 2018 Season Ticket, can you spare any none perishable items for the Tigers Food Bank Appeal? Any donations will really help families in need in our local area.

Castleford Tigers CEO Steve Gill is so proud to see how the Tigers fans have helped this cause in recent years: “This is our fourth year now of working with our local Food Banks and it really is overwhelming to see how our fans pull together to help those in need each year. Year on year we’ve been able to deliver even more donations,”

Steve added: “Christmas is an amazing time of year to spend with friends and family. During the festive period we realise just how fortunate we are. In recent years our fans have made a real difference to local people in our area who aren’t so fortunate. Not only are we collecting donations of none perishable food, we’re also looking for donations of toiletries and gifts. Essentials like toothpaste, soap and toilet roll are really needed."

Fans can drop off any Food Bank donations at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle during the Season Ticket collection station opening times above.
