Moors earns contract extension

The Samoan international, who could return from injury next week, plays a key role for the Tigers with his hard running and strong aggressive tackling style.

Moors was already contracted for the 2018 and 2019 season but Castleford have now added the 2020 season to his deal.

Moors joined the Tigers for the 2015 season from NRL side, Melbourne Storm. He played over 50 NRL games for West Tigers, Penrith Panthers and Melbourne since making his debut in 2007.

He’s certainly a favourite with fans and team mates alike at the Tigers, sweeping the board at the clubs 2016 presentation evening picking up the Fans Player of the Year, Players Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards last year. Junior got off to a fantastic 2017 campaign with his name mentioned in Man of Steel circles, before a medial ligament injury kept him on the sidelines for the past 8 weeks.

Tigers Head Coach Daryl Powell is delighted to secure Junior’s future with the Tigers: "Junior Moors is a high quality player who has continued to get better during his time at the club. His ability as a ball player in the middle of the field is outstanding as is his ball carrying strength,"

Powell added: "The fact that our best players continue to extend their contracts is a huge complement to the club and it's direction at the moment. Junior's extension shows this again and I am so pleased I will be able to work with him on a continued basis."

Players don't come more laid back than the 'Big Panda' who is thrilled to extend his deal: "I'm over the moon, I've really enjoyed my time here, we have a great bunch of blokes here at Castleford and great coaching staff so it was a really easy decision to make. I've been here for three years now and the fans have been outstaning every year, and it's great to see them enjoying us going so well this season."

Asked whether he would stay on after this deal and remain a Tiger for the rest of his career Moors said: "My family are enjoying it and I'm enjoying it here so I'd be keen to stay on."

One thing is for sure, with the Tigers now thick in the business end of the season the return of the Junior Moors is a massive boost for the club currently sat at the top of the Super League Super 8's ladder!

Castleford are back in action on Friday night when they take on Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium. Tickets are available to purchase from the Tigers Den until noon on Friday, the match is also live on Sky Sports and Castleford Tigers Radio.
